797 si sharing 998si transducer
« on: June 20, 2011, 08:44:45 PM »
Does anybody know if a 998si tranducer will work for an 797si???  I broke my 797 transducer. I was gonna buy an y cable and hook both the 998 and 797 to one transducer. Will it work??

Hey ranger,
the y cable is for sharing 2 transducers with one unit. Connecting 2 units to the same transducer CANT go well, since both will start sending signals and waiting for the answers while reciving the other units echo too. I even believe that both, the units and the transducer will get damaged, they're running un high voltage.

I think the only way for using 1 transducer for 2 units is the interlink connection.

Greetings,
Del

But the switch only allows one unit to use the transducer at a time.  Unless you can Ethernet link two units (the 797c Si does not have this capability) there is no way for two units to use one transducer at the same time.
