New to SI...Need help interpreting image
« on: February 08, 2012, 12:14:24 AM »
Same area just taken at different times.

These photo's were taken while passing by a dock.  I am trying, but I just can't understand these images.   I can see the pillars of the dock, but are those fish at the end of the dock or is it rocks?  Also, is there some grass associated with the shoreline?  Any input/help will be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

If it casts a shadow then it is probably a fish.
There appears to be some rock or concrete blocks (small)
The shore does look to have some weed growth in spots...
There are a couple of stickups and a log or two..

Looks like there are quite a few fish in both images.
In the first one, there appears to be a school of fish that are suspended a little because you can see the shadows.  There is a larger suspended fish above and to the left.  It looks like it is suspended quite a bit higher because the distance the shadow is away from the fish.
In the second one, look like you may have your sensitivity a little to high and the fish are harder to separate from the background.  It looks like the school of fish are in the same place, but maye a little closer to the bottom.

What kind of fish are you looking for?   The school at the cursor look smaller....maybe bluegill or crappie.  The one by itself may be a bigger bass.
I am not great at this yet either, just my 2 cents.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**

I'm targeting bass.  I think these replies will help me understand more of what I am seeing in the future.  Thanks to the both of you for your input!

Jason, keep on using the SI images. You will as time goes by become an expert on the displays. these things are great especially for fishing...
