Turning off the FishID on Humminbird 570

Hello everybody,

I just recently bought a Humminbird 570 and everybody tells me to turn off the FishID because it is not as accurate as the raw images you get when it is turned off.

I tried turning it off when using the simulator and it worked perfectly. I saw the "arches" that I was looking for. However, whenever I use it on the lake I don't see any arches at all.

What could be the problem?

You have to be where fish are and you or the fish have to be moving for it to draw the arches.

This is a tutorial on the Lowrance web site about how sonar works and how it shows stuff. Check out the section about fish arches in the latter part of the tutorial. It may help you understand the process:

Remember that the arch shape has nothing to do with the shape of the fish, it is the way a subject passes thru the cone shaped sonar beam.

Here are some fish arches I saved on my Humminbird 798 when I was using it on the trolling motor:

I tried to turn on the FishID and it showed a lot of fish but then I turned it off and there were non on the screen.

I will check out the link you sent me.
