anyone get AIS to work well on the two units? my hook up is as follows
GX2200 yellow to Helix Green
GX2200 blue to helix white
GX2200 green to helix ground
GX2200 on 4800b
Helix NMEA output off
running the GX2200 in AIS demo mode since I am not near any water right now
sometimes the Helix Accessory AIS menu is there .. sometimes not
I see no ships on the plotter
I nee no list of targets in the AIS menu.
thoughts.. ideas.. humminbird support was useless on this topic.

called support they suggested this
Standard GX2200 to HELIX, AIS Wiring
GX2200 HELIX
Yellow AIS Data Output + Green Data Input +
White AIS Data Output - Black (Shield) Data Input -
Alternate wiring
GX2200 HELIX
Yellow AIS Data Output + Green Data Input +
White GX2200 Chassis Gnd. Black (Shield) Data Input -
however now I cant get AIS menu on helix no matter what I try.. seems to not work at all now.

Ok so my new theory is this - that gx2200 may not put out AIS strings unless traffic heard.
I am in my garage installing the radio - I am about 10miles from the water - I occasionally hear a good signal from the water.
I hooked the white and yellow wire up to my computer serial port and when the radio boots I get a boot up data text but nothing more - I wonder if the only way to validate it working is on the water.
I will update when I am able to test on the water - hooked it up per recommendations.
I also put the white Hummimbird wire to the radio blue just for GPS backup.

so I found out that if you dont have AIS radio traffic present.. it wont work.. did a on the water test and all was working as expected.
