My screen coating is shot so I am sending the unit in for a new screen. $367

Can an older screen be upgraded to HD. Probably wishfull thinking but would be nice.

No, an older screen cannot be upgraded to HD.  It is more than just a simple change to the screen (or in this case the display).  They would also have to replace the internal PCB as there has to be circuitry to support the LED backlighting.
