Apex 16 missing Son1 files on SD card recording

I know this is the Solix board, but closest model to the Apex 16 we have.

Spotted something strange that just started happening with a new Apex 16 (customers unit) and looking for advice. I did try calling the Humminbird guy at Johnson in Ontario but could not get hold of him at all today- he is normally really good at answering questions.

Was working perfectly fine, had 2d, DI,SI sonar all being displayed and able to record the sonar to the SD card.

recently the 2D sonar is not displaying, when I go to record the sonar 2d ,DI, SI are all checked but when go to replay the file on the head unit 2D does not have a check and is not shown. file plays back fine on the head unit.

Have done multiple recent recordings and all behaving the same way.

Even stranger... when copying the data to a PC to use with Reefmaster the B001.IDX and B001.SON file are not in the recording folder. have B002, B003 , B004. Looking at the .DAT file in the SD card root -using notepad in amongst the garble of the fil it says B001.son.   

Without the B001 file , Reefmaster will not open the recordings. so not able to view the sidescan data.

Any suggestions of what could be happening for it to
A: not show the 2d data anymore
B: not record the B001 files onto the SD card?
C: anyway to salvage these recordings and view them?

Unit is less than 3 months old and has software from March 2023 installed.

Because your question kinda involves Reefmaster you might think about also posting your question in the Reefmaster sub forum  ...

B001.son is the 2D data. You will not be able to recover it.
If the 2D is working when recording is on it should be saved too.

Apex series never had 2.11 software. Update to 4.190 and check the .DAT recording.
