On the right side of the picture, all the white streaks?

Im going to say just harder returns,rock,sand gravel, maybe a couple fish mixed in. Curious to see what the pros here say !

Yea that is my issue on side imaging, how to tell a rock from a fish. Hey maybe that is why they did not bite .... they were "rock fish".
And the answer if they did not bite then that must be rocks is not acceptable either, how do you tell if that is a fish or ?????

I think how they are positioned in the water column . Suspended fish are pretty easy to identify. counter that with bottom hugging fish brings the ? I would go over that area with your 2D sonar for a better reveal. Also dont forget to record ares like this and view them in HUMVIEWER you will be amazed at what you miss ! We will see soem other comments from the main guys here on this too !

I also want to say that your speeds at 1.4 I think if you step it up a notch you will get a better picture. I seem to get the best results at 4mph. Obviously there is no set rule for this.

I think there are fish on the right side on both sides of the harder bottom hump......don't consider myself an expert though.

Humviewer is a software program for viewing your Humminbird Recordings on your computer. The resolution is much higher than what is shown on the units or in snapshots.
There is a software section here in the forum, and there are several viewers to look at.

I’m going to say fish.
I can’t tell for certain that you were travelling in a straight line when you took this Screen Snapshot or not as there are areas of the bottom that appear stretched as what happens when you turn. If you didn’t turn than I am pretty certain that they are fish. Look at the rock on the left side about a third of the way down from the top. It looks pretty sharp, clear and defined. Just across from it are some white streaks. This means that either all of the rocks, tress or whatever they were are either long in shape and just happened to be oriented in that direction or it means that something that reflected sonar moved while being imaged. Usually these are fish. There are no shadows for these “fish” which may be due to either their height in the water (far from the bottom) or that the bottom slopes off to the right or the bottom composition changed and is a lot software than the area to the left. Shadows would have helped in more positively identifying them as fish or something else (as in the case of the rock).

yea I was actually using the trolling motor when I took this shot so there was most likely some back in drift.

If there is current flow ( top to bottom or v/v ) and a soft mud bottom on the right,
that would be what I would expect the image to look like.

That name is still accurate. I just spend ALOT of time on here learning from folks like you. Thank you and all the other posters.
