version numbers
« on: February 11, 2013, 12:36:22 PM »
I'm completely lost on version nos.I check the regestration page regularly for my 798 ci hd si and the only numbers I have see for my unit have been 5.4,5.84,6.25,and now 6.6.Where did 6.57 come from ? The HB site just keeps me confused. It shows 6.57 for the 858c.

Different models may have different version numbers.

Just because a version is available for one model, that
same version number may not EVER be available for another
model.

There is no standard sequence of naming software versions
that us user's know of.

Humminbird names/numbers them at their discretion.

The 6.570 software was released for the 798ci HD Si units but it was not on there for long before being replaced by the 6.600 software.  Guess you missed it.

As far as software naming goes; the only naming standard that I know of is an increasing number for that unit’s software.  New levels (the first number used) are used for major release events while they try and use the same version number for all units that receive the same feature/function/fixes.  An example of this would be the 6.600 software for all of the Si units that could run some of the same accessories.
