Title: Humminbird PC not compatible with Windows 8?
Post by: coreyc on April 29, 2013, 08:33:39 PM
I downloaded it, but when I try and open it, it just goes to install again.  Asks if I want to repair or delete.  Any help is appreciated, I only have macs and windows 8 and can't get it to work on either.

I'm running windows 8 and it works for me, using version 4.3.8. sounds like your clicking on the install file instead of the program file. are you clicking the bird in the start/metro screen?

don't take my post the wrong way, just trying to help.

It does sound like you're clicking the .exe installer again...

It probably did not install a Shortcut start button on the desktop...

Try ...Start/All Programs/Humminbird/Humminbird PC...

Got it figured out, thanks!  One thing, on my 958 while having gps on any screen I get COG readout instead of temp, is anyone else getting this?

The COG reading is hard coded into any map view...(even tho you can change it in the Menu system it will not change on the map view)...

HB decided you must have COG any time you are viewing a map...

You can change the COG readout on any "non-map" view...

What does COG stand for?

COG is "Course Over Ground" which is the direction of travel....measured in a 360° circle with North being 0/360°....

HB decided you should see your "direction of travel" (in degrees from North) when you are looking at a map...

"BIG WATER" guys need COG because they may not be able to see land...
