After you guys helped me to understand the speed-induced stripes in my images, I have a new problem: evry second sweep seems to be offset by a small ammount. Basically the bottom line is a zig-zag, see attached. It has happened in all recordings from today and none before. It seems to be originating from within the unit, as it really is always precisely every second sweep, so no waves, interference etc. Any suggestions? It looks the same in humviewer and reefmaster, so not readout problem. On the screen I didn't see the problem, but I might have overlooked it...
Edit: I found exactly the moment when they kicked in, see image 3.

This issue usually shows up right after certain software updates ...
Did you recently update your software ... ??
Can you load an older version and see if it goes away ...??

I don't yet want to put the old firmware on the thing, don't even have it. It has the newest firmware of this year. I found another topic here, where people relate it to the 83 kHz channel being switched on. And that's in fact what I did when the stripes appeared: I changed from 200 kHz mode to 83/200 mode. It seems to be an old problem that HB has never solved, it seems...

This looks like the "zipper" effect to me. Try changing your sonar from 83/200 to 200 only. Humminbird introduced this problem in a firmware update many moons ago.

I'm pretty sure it's exactly this. I tried contacting Humminbird, but haven't heard back for 3 days now. Maybe they still respond. I'll try calling them if I have nothing by Monday.

I don't know if HB actually ever acknowledged the "zipper effect" ...
It will be interesting to hear what they tell you ...
