Settings during a recording
« on: February 03, 2010, 05:12:19 PM »
I know I can exit out of the recording while it is recording.....and go back to "Live" view...

I know I can change settings in the "Live" view while the recording is going on in the background....

Are the settings adjustable in a recording after the recording has been started.....??

Or..are the settings "set" as soon as I start the recording...??

I think I am correct, if not, someone please correct me.   While recording you are in live view.  When I am out making recordings, I make adjustments while it is recording, change screens and pretty much do anything I want.  When I am at home looking at the recording with Humviewer, the only thing I notice is when I change from the transom to the trolling motor transducer, there is a blank space in the switch.  Also, when I review the recordings on my 1197 unit I make adustments as I am watching it.

From my experience:
If I'm recording I do not change the settings in SI or 2D.
I don't know, but I think that sometimes the files get corrupted when i change the settings. The file folders have all sort of weired letters and numbers then.

The settings are fully changeable during recording and playback.  You can even change freq while recording.

On playback you can not change freq, since the data has already been recorded.  But all the other features are processed live.  Give it a try.  You can even pause a recording and change the settings to see what looks best.

Ok, this is an old thread, but partially gives some answers on HB recordings.

Q1:  Is a HB recording a collection of the raw sonar data?

Q2:  When recording do the setting or change setting in SI Range affect the recording?
IE.  If SI Range is set at 90ft during recording, can Humviewer or another viewer display out to 120ft?

Q3: Is the Full-Simulator a raw-data recording?

1. Yes, it is raw data. That's why you can adjust the settings on playback to get the best images!

2. No, it only records out to the current range.  So if recorded at 90', that's all you will get on playback.

3. Yes, the simulator is just a recording stored internally.
