US2 damage 859di
« on: October 02, 2015, 11:18:25 PM »
I was on the phone with hummingbird tech support and they told me that my built in US2 transducer could damage my 859di . Has anyone else heard this?

It uses a higher frequency than the 200/83 KHz the US/2 is designed for.
The DI uses 200/455KHz for the 2D.
Yep you can fry a DI unit on it.
Get a TM XDCR & mount it on the TM

There is a specific setup where the US2 can be connected to a 800/900/1100 series HB DI unit with the AS SIDB Y cable    ...

"Un-official" Note:  Due to warranty language HB cannot "officially" advise users of this option because the AS SIDB Y cable was not designed for the HB DI units ...the AS SIDB Y cable just happens to be wired that way ...

This only works for the 800/900/1100 series HB DI units because these specific model DI units have the "DI + 200kHz/83kHz" menu choice for the "Transducer Select" setting under the Sonar tab ...

For a guy that has a separate XDCR bow mount that looks like an angry porcupine (LOL!), why on earth would somebody split the 2D to the US/2 and STILL have to mount a DI piezo to get full functionality when a single Trolling motor mounted DI XDCR on the bottom of the motor housing can "do it all"?

I realize it's "possible" like that, just impractical.

If you are wanting DI on the Ulterra... The only option is mounting a DI xducer to the Ulterra ...

And if the DI xducer has to be mounted to the Ulterra ... Why would you want to hook up the US2 ...??

Or are you wanting the DI mounted somewhere other than the Ulterra ...but still get 2d from the US2 ...??
