Title: Onix SI settings
Post by: FISHINLAWYER on June 02, 2015, 04:07:29 PM
I am a new member. I am sure my question has been posted before but I can't find it.
What settings are all of you running for your SI?  I fish a lot of TVA lakes and am routinely fishing ledges that top out from 12-24 feet.
I regularly see fish on down but rarely on SI.

Please help

I use 800kHz for greater detail of objects close to the boat ...
I use 455kHz for greater Range seeing objects farther away from the boat ...

Set DI image frequency opposite of my current choice of SI frequency to eliminate the "Ghost lines" in the SI image cause by both the DI and SI transmitters firing the same frequency ...

SI range to 40-70ft in familiar water ...
SI range to 70-100ft in unfamiliar water ...

Chart Speed match boat speed ...

SI Sensitivity high enough to brighten the screen for the type of bottom composition being scanned ... (Mud bottom will need higher SI Sensitivtiy setting than a hard bottom) ...

I don't like any of the palette choices in the Onix ... So I choose the one that gives the brightest returns for the type of bottom I'm scanning ... Usually Amber 2 for my eyes ...

I wish the Onix had Inverse like the core units ...
