If I'm on the simulator, does it let me put say a Lakemaster chip in...go to a particular lake to make changes on say a waypoint?

Yes but it depends on which “Simulator” you are using as there are actually two in each unit:

#1 - The POS (Point Of Sale) Simulator mode is entered when there is no transducer connected to the unit.  Power the unit on and let it start up.  There should be a message stating that there is no transducer connected.  In this version of the simulator the unit does not remember any changes made to the menus (or the waypoints).

#2 – The forced Simulator mode is entered by powering the unit on, and while it is showing the Title Screen (“Humminbird 997c Si”) pressing the MENU button and selecting “SIMULATOR” from the resulting menu choices.  This version of the simulator will remember menu setting changes and any changes made to the waypoints.
