Got my 798ci last year and it worked great. I had it mounted near the dash. This year I'd like to be able to move it to the bow when wanted. (No. buying a second unit is not an option.) As near as I can tell I have two options.
1) Get another Ram mount and have a Ram mount in each location. Pros: Easy to accomplish and inexpensive. Cons: Dragging power/transducer cables back and forth.
2) Get another quick disconnect mount. Pros: Easy to accomplish, inexpensive, wiring hidden away. Cons: Unit is turned off each time I need to move, not sure if a wiring splitter exists for this configuration. I'm aware of the Y harness for accommodating two transducers to one 789ci unit but not sure if that will work for my scenario.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Chad,
There is no Y-harness for the transducer for this. You could use a US3 Unit Switch though or just take the plunge install a second station (unit mount, power cable and trolling motor mounted transducer) at the bow. That way your sonar readings will be from up front where you are fishing and not from the back of the boat.

I was looking at a second station for my 898. New mount, gps puck, transducer and power cable added up to around $400. I got a used 798HD off of BBCBOARDS.NET for $420. Works great. They have lots of good used electronics there. Either way it will cost you to have a unit up front.
