798c, 788c, GPS Receiver, & Interlink Connections
« on: September 15, 2011, 11:45:04 AM »
I have a 798c si unit at the console with a gr50 receiver installed near the transom.  I have a 788c unit on the bow with another gr50 receiver installed nearby.  I have an Interlink unit installed under the console.  What is the best way to connect these units so each of the depth finders will see their respective gps receiver and the two units will trade waypoints, routes, etc?  Also any part numbers of extra cables would be appreciated.  Also any advice on the setting of the "GPS Receiver Override" menu on each of the units would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have everything you need!

The interlink should have come with all the necessary cables.

Not sure why you would need to worry about the GPS override.

I found an illustration on another site which matched my setup.  After many hours of troubleshooting, I noticed the cable diameters on my Y cables were slightly different?  I connected the smaller one to the GPS receivers and now it is working properlyW?  Never read that in any directions.

The cables are of a different diameter but it is usually best to look at the labels molded into the connectors.  The ACCY-COM connector gets plugged into the cable going to the InterLink while the NMEA-COM connector gets plugged into the GPS Receivers.
