1198 Transducer Question
« on: June 24, 2012, 10:04:44 PM »
Just bought a new Triton that came with a factory installed 998 in dash. The 998 transducer is mounted on the transom. I installed my existing 1198 and connected the two together with an Ethernet cable. Is the stock 998 transducer the best approach ? My old 1198 transducer was a bottom mounted style and will not mount on new boat. I do notice my down imaging is not as sharp as I'd like.

The 998c Si and 1198c Si units both use the same HDSi transducer.

My experience has been that the sharpest Di images are when the Down Imaging Beam Width is set to the Narrow setting, but maybe that is just me.

Thanks Greg,

What can I do to link all three units? I'd like to link my front deck 998 to the 998 & 1198 in dash

All three of those units have an Ethernet connection.  The Ethernet hub (AS-ETH-5PS) can be used to connect them all together.  Not sure if we have released that for sale yet though.

The Ethernet Hub is listed on the internet between $160 - $190.  Have not tried to order one but it is there.

I wasn’t meaning to tease Chuck.  I don’t have the ability to check on this and rely on our Customer Resource folks to do so.  Monday is their busy day so I try not to bother them.  Plus two of the folks I normally call for this sort of thing are out and the third one’s phone has been busy since I read this.  Just got through and confirmed that we are shipping them and we do have a few of them in stock.

I just ordered the ethernet hub online from the HB store. Hope it ships. I know I inquired in April when I first got the boat and it was not available then.
Thanks

Just thought of something, do I need three ethernet cables to link three units to the hub?

These are individual plug ins.  So yes each must have a cable..
