Title: First try with Di
Post by: soretoe on February 07, 2010, 08:10:02 PM
Was out fishing with a friend last Wednesday and made a feeble attempt at setting my unit up. The pics below are basically at factory settings. This was a therapy trip for my buddy so we mostly fished.

This first pic is of what is left of a tree that was sunk in a 55 gallon drum.

The next two are shots of bait (shad). They were approx 1 inch to 1 and a half inches long.

Whats up with the SI in the first image?  The right side is bright and the left is dark?  I like the rock or barrel? in the Down Imaging!

I have two different transducers for one thing. I have been having weird stuff happen even before the upgrade. Sometimes the whole left side just disapears, almost like when ya have a transducer on the trolling motor and are turning.  I'm going to spend a day out on the lake soon and get more pics of the left side. I hope to disconnect the "Y" cable and let it all run on the HD ducer to see if if happens there too.

Here is a shot of it being almost gone.

Definitely an issue!  Hopefully its just the cable or something inexpensive!  My guess though is its probably the transducer!

Good Luck and let us know how it works out.

Such impression that a boat with  transducer or only  transducer has an inclination to the right, therefore the left-hand side has a weak returnable signal

I had that problem last year. Thought something on the boat was blocking the ducer view; but, I did not change anything on the boat. I took the plastic peace that all the wires go into apart. The one that has one screw to the head unit. I take my head unit off the boat each trip. That's what it was. A loose plug from the ducer cable to the head unit.

I'll have to check my connections. I just havent had any time on the water. Hope to rectify that soon.

If in the worse case it is the transducer, you might get lucky and it is only the left side element.  Swapping transducers on your transom could get you back  in working order, without the expense of a new SI ducer..

If it's not a loose or questionable connection, do you think that tweeking the xducer down towards the weak side would make a difference???  I'm patiently waiting for the water to soften here to get mine out.
