Title: Trouble with a new 798CI SI HD unit..
Post by: robbiec911 on February 27, 2012, 01:31:12 AM
I just bought this unit about a month ago an just today installed it. All wiring is ran an test correct. I installed the head unit on the console. I put a 3amp fuse in the pos power going to the unit. I was going to power up the unit after everything was finished an the only thing that happens is the screen will come on for a second saying loading, then it will start flickering a line across the screen an flash the loading again about every one to two seconds.. Anyone have any idea what would cause this?

How is your 798ci HD Si unit connected to the battery: through the boat’s power system or with a set of new wires that run directly to the battery?  If not the later I would try direct connecting the unit to the cranking battery and see if it will power up correctly.  If it will not then you need to contact the Humminbird Customer Resource folks at 1-800-633-1468.

I ran new new wires direct to the battery an I also wired in a water proof blade fuse holder with a 3amp fuse in place. Ive also checked the voltage with a tester an have constant proper voltage! I contacted hummingbird support staff an they were very helpful in making the replacement process get on the ball :) I am looking forward to recieving my unit!
