I am using the 1197c for river and lake surveys; have had good success the past couple of months using the Son2xtf converter to create the xtf files. On my latest project, however, I have about 57 min of sonar scanning data, can view it in Humviewer, can export the depth and track data to csv and kml format....however when I run Son2xtf on the R0000*.dat file I get the error message "unable to open require beam input files" and it fails to do the conversion. The project R0000*.dat file and the *.son and *.idx are all there; everything looks identical with the way the files are set up in previous projects. Anyone out there using the son2xtf converter who may have experience the same problem? Any explanations regarding the error message?
Cheers,

Not sure of the fix. When we run the sonar and then export for mapping we generally run no longer than 30 minutes. We may have several runs, which we convert to .csv and then merge the files for the mapping program.

kingpoint,
Make sure that no other program is using the file. Some programs will leave the file open and other programs cannot access it.
Also make sure that you have all of the associated files that are needed. Just because HumViewer can play it back does not mean all the files are there.
You should have an R000**.DAT file and a corresponding R000** folder. In that folder you should have 6 files and sometimes 8. You should have a set of .SON files, B001.SON, B002.SON, B003.SON and sometimes B000.SON. And you should also have a set of IDX files, B001.IDX, B002.IDX, B003.IDX and sometimes B000.IDX.
Let me know if that fixes it for you and I will mark this topic solved.
Thanks,
Robert

Did anyone get this figured out. I'm having the same issue. I've tried it in XP mode. I've tried installing different versions of .net. All the files are in the folders. I have at least 30 scans I have tried. I am using an 1198c SI. I'm using the Son2XTF vista installer.
Any Tips?

Make sure you have ALL the files. R000*.DAT with corresponding R000* folder and B000, B001, B002 B003 IDX and SON files in the folder. May not have B000.
How did you transfer the files over? Did you copy EVERYTHING from the RECORD folder on the SD Card?

I believe I do have all the files. I'm posting screenshots incase I've forgotten something. I made sure the security tab of all of the folders gives full rights to the files and they are not read only or anything. Thanks for any help.

Do not change the folders the files are in. That will mess them up for sure.
What version software do you have on your unit? They may not have updated it for the new format released earlier this year.

I got it!!! ;D I must have had it to many folders deep. I moved the files to a folder right on C: and it works. The file security is identical. It's the only thing I can think of.
Thanks everyone who helped!
