Title: Trip Distance / Odometer?
Post by: MTBob on June 09, 2013, 09:10:24 AM
On my 998c is there an odometer that records distance traveled?  I'm looking for a feature that gives me an accumulated mileage and a resettable trip mileage.  Kinda like a car odometer.  I had this feature on an old Lorwance, but can't find it on the HB.

Try the "Triplog Reset" under the Setup tab in the main menu system...

Rickie: Thanks for your help.  With your guidance I found the Trip Reset, but it apparently resets the Trip Log to zero.  The actual readings (I found after digging through the manual) are located on the "Select Readout" section, which are then displayed on the screen with other selected values.

But, the section of the Manual that describes distance traveled, time traveled is really vague - in fact unintelligible.  It is not clear at all how the GPS unit keeps track of time an distance - or, whether a paddle wheel is required to record the total distance traveled and trip distance traveled.

So, if I reset the Triplog will that also reset the total distance traveled?  And, if not, can I then reset the total distance traveled in some other way?

Bob,
Using the TripLog Reset menu rests all of the triplog data.
This data can come from the GPS Receiver that the unit is using and is logged regardless of whether you are or are not showing the triplog data as one of the digital readouts on the unit.  No paddlewheel is required.
