What transducer do I need to mount it on a trolling motor? The one that came with the unit is reading the temp wrong.

I would go with the DI wide transducer http://www.humminbird.com/Products/XTM-9-WIDE-DI-20-T/ (http://www.humminbird.com/Products/XTM-9-WIDE-DI-20-T/) For some reason the 788 is not on the compatability list, but I am pretty sure it is...... Might be worth a call to customer service to make sure it is.
Do you know anyone who has a boat you could test your unit with to make sure the transducer is the problem?

The 788 does not have the "Transducer Select" menu choice (DI 200/83) to operate the XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T ...
Only the 800/900/1100 series DI units have this option ...

The TM version for the 788ci DI would be the XTM 9 DI 25 T ...
