Solving the HDSI Rooster Tail
« on: September 23, 2014, 08:43:42 AM »
I have found the Rooster Tail from my HDSI transducer annoying.  I dont like the water splashing up on the motor and when my Top is up with sides the spray is sucked in on rear seats, soaking everything.  While in Canada this year and visiting a dealer I found a soulution.  They mount the transducer lower (This allows the High Speed reading to work),  then to knock the spray they invented a metal shield over the top of the transducer which knocks down all the spray.  It works.

Yeah the transducer is exposed.  But I mostly troll and whenever I am in shallow water I am casting and barely moving.  This bracket would be east to make on your own if your handy.  Here is some pictures of the bracket on my boat!

Thats odd, I never had rooster tail with my HDSI. I wonder if it has something to do with the transducer shield and saver.

A metal plate over the transducer is a must!... I have made something similar on my kit.
