Title: GPX files created in GPSBabel fail upload to Onix but work in HB 798CI HD
Post by: GFortelney on August 18, 2014, 08:40:25 AM
This past weekend I was trying to import the .gpx files I use on my HB 798CI HD to the new Onix.  When I took the .gpx file and attempted to import them on the Onix 10 i would get an error message "import failed", these same .gpx file would upload to an SD card and work fine in my HB 798CI.  After some investigating the .gpx files that would fail were created using GPSBabel, using a .csv file exported from excel.  If I manually created a new file in HBPC the upload to the Onix would work.

My next test was to open the .gpx file that failed in HBPC, I then copied all the waypoints from the .gpx file that GPSBabel created and pasted them into a new file in HBPC.  When you look at both files in HBPC they both looked identical.  After I saved them, the next thing I did was open each .gpx file with notepad, to see what the differences were, the file that HBPC created had an entirely different look that the one that GPSBabel had.

So if you created alot of .gpx files using GPSBabel with the humminbird extension you may run into a proble trying to import them on the Onix system, my solution was to create a new file, copy the waypoints from the .gps file that GPSBabel created and paste them into a new .gpx file in HBPC.

I was curios is someone else has any recommendations on how to import GPS coordinates from an Excel .csv file to a .gpx file that will work in the Onix?
