si auto range

hi with the new update came the si auto range,where the range is determined automatically by the depth,how is this done, is the range about 3 times the depth like i have seen in some instructional videos?

T.G.-- Watching the You Tube video on how to setup your unit; the auto range jumped to 132' in 30' of water at the end of the video. ( when the auto range took over )

I will probably use the SI auto range this looks like it will be beneficial.  Looking forward to using it.

George, let us know how this works out for you. Since you have a lot of experience in this matter.

I am interested in this from a SAR perspective as in 30 feet of depth we generally use 60 to 75 feet of side view.
Longer side lengths kinda of shrink the target we are looking for..

If you getout snapshot a couple of pictures.

     Best of luck with your situation. We appreciate you sharing your knowledge here.

     With regard to the auto range, it will be interesting to see what the range choice is when a recording is played back on Humviewer.
