I'm assuming you are working with the Installed map on your unit. So you may have to toggle between hotmaps or gold, auto select is not always the best. Pay attention to your zoom levels and make sure your spot soundings are turned on. Additional nav cards can be added for more detail. The nav line can be modified via the menu{type,color,and depth}, as far as visibility ,zoom seems to make all the difference. Accuracy seems to be better at higher zooms. As far as the power going out you might try bending the pins on the power cord just a little, hope this is what your asking about, good luck.
