Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums DiNozzo.

What wires did you connect from the NMEA pigtail wire to your VHF radio?

You may want to try connecting to the Black NMEA pigtail wire to the radio's ground.

The NMEA output works fine on some other radios so I do not think that it is a software glitz on our end.

The software version of your unit can be seen by setting the Self Test View to “Visible”.  This is done under the Views menu tab.  You will then have to scroll through all of the available Views until you get to it.
