Title: on issues
Post by: inshorecatch on June 13, 2009, 06:45:54 PM
so I have a dual battery system connected to a battery switch. battery 1 is a 1000 cca and #2 is a 660 cca. I have always had a humminbird since I started fishing inshore. my last was a 757c combo then the matrix 47 and now the 979. so I picked up the 979 a few weeks after I got the matrix 47, I got a great deal new in the box. my problem is the unit will not turn on when plugged in. I checked the power at the post where it connects and I have 12.5 and when I use my accesory cord with the batterys it clicks on fine, I have had it come on once and felt it was fine but I was on my way out to check it for the first time today take some video but again with the wont come on help.

Hard to diagnose without being there.  Sounds like you may have a wire routed incorrectly or something.

From the unit, your power cord is hooked to an accessory block I take it?  Do you have power at the Accessory Block?  If you unplug the Power cable from the unit and meter the pins of the connector, do you have power there?

Is the power cable plugged in tight and secure?

Wish I could be there to help!  I hate things like this.  My 785c had a lose connector and I had to bend the pins slightly so they made better contact.  The unit would shut off if I wiggled it or hit a wake.
