Title: down and side image interference
Post by: 1fireball on December 22, 2013, 05:27:09 PM
I have some interference in my down image and you can see a little in side image on left vie.
I've moved transducer 50 times and even extended it down and back. Boat is tri-toon.
It doesn't go away with engine on or off boat moving or stopped. Not even ??? with a battery just for 998.
Also if you try to enhance down image low med or high it will turn the screen to blk and white lines.
Trimmed motor up no change.
I'll post a image you can see the interference in upper region of down image. I can't load pic:(

1fireball,

You should see a box below where you type here that says attach with a browse button to the right of it.  Click the browse button and locate your file.  It should handle almost any image file you have up to 3mb.

If you have an iphone...download the Photobucket app from the Apple App Store...

Then upload your pic into Photobucket...

When the pic is in Photobucket...click the share icon (square with an arrow coming out of it)...

From the list of options that comes up...choose "Copy"...

Another list with pop up with different options for posting to the internet...

Tap the bottom option which is "IMG"...the field to the right should then say "Link Copied"...

Open the message pane in sideimagingsoft.com where you would normally type your message...

Tap the message pane to activate the blinking blue cursor...

There should be a popup with the option to "Paste"...

This should paste the IMG URL from Photobucket that you "copied"...

Click "Preview" under the message pane in sideimagingsoft.com...(sometimes it takes a few seconds to upload the image...)

When the image loads into sideimagingsoft ...see that it looks OK for you...

Add text to the message pane (if desired)...

Tap "Post" under the message pane to finalize your posting...

If I try to enhance down image to low sometimes its ok. If I go med or high the screen goes to black and white vertical lines.

The lines appearing when DI Enhance is set to med or high is a known issue in some of the newer versions of software...

The only fix at this time is to keep DI Enhance "Off"...

The "interference" lines showing in your image is most likely reflections from the toon...

Temporarily mount the xducer to a stick and test the xducer farther down in the water...

If the lines go away...it is definately reflections from the toons...

Good to know about lines hopefully they are working on a fix. im sure problem is with toons its a tri toon no problem with right side image but on down and left its a issue. switching to 800 helps a little. will another transducer on left toon fix problem? next issue is my outside toons both have a aluminum rib right down center wich causes turbulence. any speed more than 4mph distorts images bad. at 15 mph its usless. I tried moving transducer down and back with a special made bracket 6 inches and it helped a little. bracket causes worse turbulence than toons. plus alot of drag at 47 mph...6 ft rooster tail behind bracket. there has to be a answer short of a tow lol

DI is a computer generated composite of the left and right SI...so the stuff in the left SI is showing up in the DI view...

The 800kHz is better because the beam angle is pointed more angled down...

Is is definately possible to use 2 separate HDSI xducers along with the AS SILR Y cable...the left SI would come from the left leg of the AS SILR Y cable....and the right SI, 2d, and temperature would come from the right leg of the AS SILR Y cable...

Toon installations can be very finicky....keep at it...you'll get it...
