HBSI Converter Help
« on: December 31, 2012, 09:29:54 AM »
I have used the Humminbird SI since about 6 months after they originally came out and have nothing but positive comments about the SI units and Humminbirds customer service. Originally started with the 987 model and since have been able to add a 998 and 1198 these three units have been used exculsively to search for drowning victims and were purchased through donations or grants provided to the Fire Department where I am now the Chief. Often the victim is found within the first hour or less of the search where prior to the use of side scan we often had to wait days for recovery, Thanks Humminbird. Thanks to a wonderful wife I now am the proud owner of a new 998c. which will be used primarily for fishing. With the original unit I have used the HBSI converter to convert files to be used in the Yellowfin veiwer but each time I try to convert files from any of the three new units I get the error message "One or more son files cannot be found" it will show the file as loading in the dialog box with all the correct info but will not complete the load. The HBSI has been a lifesaver to our divers through the ability to measure objects found prior to placing a recovery diver in the water this allows us to rule out oversized objects safely. THANKS in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide.

The HBSI converter is a utility provided by RGecy and not from yellowFin so dont call them. Now for your issue check this link in the forum:
http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=937.0
This will explain the files created in a recording. Each of these must be there in order for viewers to work.
After you copy over to the PC check the files to ensure tat all are there..
You might also try the humviewer as a viewing program. it was written especially for HB recordings by Martin. he has a web site to support.  Check in the downloads.
You csn email me directly also.  Or call 252-430-7731 anytime.
You are so correct that sonar improves object finding and provides a higher level of safety for divers.
