Topic: Software version not as clear.

Hi guys,
just found this site, it is a wealth of information... amazing.
I have just read about others noticing that their images are not as clear since updating software on the 898, and i noticed the same thing which is dissapointing. I am not sure what version i am currently running. I am in Australia and have the international version, when i look at the system information on startup it says V6.100, but i have not heard of this version mentioned on this site. In the simulator mode it has the 360 view if that helps to narrow down my version, and ipilot is listed as an option in the accessories. My question is should i change back to an older version or update to a more recent one. THe reason that i canged to the one i have now was for the ability to remove the readouts on the SI screen which is really good, but i think i would rather have a clearer image.
From this site it sounds like v6.490 is the go?? Will this run on my international version or do i need a version specific to Australia?? and also will this improve my image quality while still allowing the readouts to be removed from the SI screens.

PS it was bought new a bit over 2 years ago.

Welcome to the Side Imaging Forums!

The software version your 898cX Si unit is running is 6.100 as the system information screen showed.  I don’t track the software versions for any of our International models so I do not know what the most current version is.  You should be able to register your unit though and see what the most recent software version is.
