Title: software update for 898C HD SI
Post by: rocketman2008 on May 15, 2013, 06:49:07 PM
I just received an e-mail from Humminbird that new software was available for several models including the one I have the 898C HD SI. It said that their was new software available which is no problem to download but it also said it would not work unless you updated the Terrova I-Pilot Link also. I feel stupid but where do you update any software on the Terrova I-Pilot Link?

Don

Once the Link is registered, on the HB site, it shows updates for the it.  Then you download and install it through your finder.  Atleast thats the way I understand it I have the update downloaded and ready to be uploaded to my unit, I'll be going through it this weekend.

Don, there are 3 software downloads.  One of the I-Pilot link controller, one for the I-Pilot Link remote then the software update for the Humminbird..   Do the software update on the Humminbird first, then the I-Pilot Link Controller, then finally the remote...

Once you do the software update for the unit itself, you can then plug in the I-Pilot Link via ethernet and you should see it listed under accessories..  Once the unit has found it, you copy the I-Pilot Link controller software to a SD card and insert it into your Humminbird.  The unit will then update the I-Pilot Link controller (I think the new ver is 1.51 or similar).  Once that is done, then it's time to update the remote..  Copy the remote software onto a SD card and insert it into the Humminbird after you've booted the unit up and the it says 'I-Pilot Connected'.   Follow the prompts on the I-Pilot Link handheld controller and you'll be all set.  Everything is updated via the unit (including the Terrova)

That's a lot of work.  It's too bad these don't work right out of the box.  Thanks for the explanation.

It takes about 5mins..  It's really not as complicated as it sounds.

Cool. I don't have a Terrova trolling motor or the I Pilot yet but may be planning on buying one in the future.  So I need to learn how to update the software for the I pilot and the Terrova.  I didn't know that the Terrova even had software for it until I read this thread. Thanks for the input.
