Navionics Freshest updates and sonar logs
« on: February 14, 2014, 07:49:19 PM »
I recently received a Navionics Updates card and registered it successfully. I currently have a Gold XL9 Australia card. With minimal information on the packaging I eventually worked out that you have a year from the date of registration to receive Freshest Data to nautical and sonar charts and community edits if your unit is eligible(which mine is not).I then found a youtube video about recording sonar logs to improve chart detail in your particular area. After acquiring this information I've now been recording sonar logs everytime I'm out on my local river. I sent two original logs to Navionics about a month ago and received an email saying that the logs were in the waiting status into the intergration into their data base and just last week I submitted a further eight more sonar logs.My question is what happens when those logs are entered into their data base? Do you receive an email or does it automatically come up on your log in when you insert your chip. I was also told by the local Navionics office that Humminbird units were the only units that could do sonar logs due to their recording capabilities, is that correct. Being in Australia there probably not getting as much information as the USA so maybe that's the reason. How long does it take to get updated logs for you guys??? Mark

It is a bit confusing to me as well but you should be able to get the info you need on Navionics.com or whatever service number is correct for your location. I think you must do more than one download to get the community edits. I think there might be as many as 3 options to mark for download. Bob

Thanks Bob, I'm not sure how it all works that's why I thought there maybe someone out there that may be able to shed some light on the process. Surely there's someone who can explain from their experiences what occurs!
