Hi,
Check to see if your unit has "Universal Sonar 2" as a transducer select option under the Sonar column. I'm pretty sure you will see it there. I have been using my 797c2 for Ice Fishing every winter since I got it (2007) and it works GREAT.

Using your unit in the winter (interpreting images) will make you a "better" operator in the summer.

Have fun,
Roger

The XI-9-20 is compatible with the 798ci HD Si units but only if you switch the Transducer Select/Connected Transducer menu to the Universal Sonar setting as Roger stated.  This transducer is not listed as compatible as it does not have the Si sonar capability.

Greg,
I got my 798Ci SI HD in March 2012. I bought it with the portable case conversion kit so I could use it with my canoe. I used it all summer and it worked great.....lots of fun. Now its time for ice fishing and I had the same question about the XI-9-20 being compatible. Your response answered my question. I plan to place my order  tomorrow.

Thanks,
Charlie,
Bethlehem, PA

Charlie,
Depending on the software version that you are running in your 798ci HD Si unit you may not have the Universal Sonar menu selection.  If you do not, just use the Dual Beam menu selection and if not that the Quad Beam menu selection instead.
