Title: Helix 7 and one chip slot question
Post by: mitrisin on April 24, 2016, 10:38:22 AM
I have a Helix 7 and a Lakemaster chip on the way.  Since the Helix 7 only has one chip slot.  How do I record screenshots, etc.  Does it have internal memory that I can record on while on the water and then replace the Lakemaster chip with a blank microsd chip to save the info?  My old unit had two chip slots so I'm not quite sure how this will work.

Thanks,
Mike

The single card slot in the smaller HELIX 5 and 7 was a major contributor for manufacture cost savings that allowed HB to offer SI and DI to the market at a lower price point ...but with a larger wide format screen compared to the previous core 398 SI, 598 SI, and 698 SI ...

I agree it's inconvenient to replace the map card with a blank SD Card just to take Screenshots and Recordings ...as Screenshots and Recordings can only be saved directly to a blank SD Card ...

Definitely do not try to save Screenshots and Recordings to the map card as this can corrupt the map card ... It's a good practice to keep the map card locked so that no data can accidentally be written to the map card ...
