Title: False depth reading
Post by: iceimanhunting on June 21, 2013, 02:53:17 PM
I have a 898SI  while fishing in 190 ft of water the unit was reading 70 ft of water.I tried shutting the unit down and restarting the unit and got the same70ft reading.I shut the down again and unplugged the back and plugged the back in again same reading. Then restored defaults and the unit read correct depth..

iceimanhunting,
Welcome to the Side Imaging Forums.  Sorry that you first post has to be about a problem.

Was there another sonar unit running on the boat at the same time?
Was there a strong thermocline at about the same 70 foot water depth?
After you reset the unit did it keep reading the correct depth or did it start reading 70 feet deep again?

hi, next time this happens try to set your 2d to 200 feet or a littlebit below the actual depth, quite often this is the only way to get correct depthreadings.  :)

I had same issue recently. Which coincidentally was the first time out after having installed and uninstalled 6.40? the trip before.
