Title: Poor quality images lately...very grainy ...horizontal static..
Post by: bwallis on September 05, 2011, 10:54:56 PM
Last few times out I have been recording as usual. But lately my image quality has been really poor.  I'm not sure why.... I typically will run with factory default settings...I can make it better but in general, the defaults are good enough to find brushpiles, structure and fish.  it seems worse on playback with humviewer than it does playing back through the unit.  I have managed to hit some pretty good stumps and rocks a few times...but really nothing out of ordinary...My 'ducer did flip up awhile back when I drifted into a wingdam (whoops)....but I've done that before..I snapp'er back down and keep chuggin.
I did switch props earlier in summer...same size prop..went to Stainless from Aluminum....

Terrova TM w/ iPilot....

Here's a pic...That's a riprap wingdam to the right and flat clean bottom to left (Arkansas River at Little Rock)
Perplexed...I've had crisper images in past.  Thoughts?

5.8 mph is kind fast for good si/di shots. try 2 to 3 mph and repost. Good lick and enjoy Roddy :)

Hi bwallis,

It seems like your Humviewer images are very "washed out", with little details in the high-lights?

If so, you might want to select another Humviewer color model, or edit the green color model to get more details in the high-lights. (Experiment by sliding the green slider-bar up and down to see how it affects the appearance of the images)

If the same problem occur on your sonar display, as a work-around, try the same thing there; Use a SI Color palette that bring out more details in the highlights, and experiment with the other display settings.

If none of this brings out more details in the lighter areas, perhaps there are some issue with the sonar...

Bwallis; Some bate balls, lots of fish, some surface clutter try adjustmest for this. At a blow up of 800% SI shows a lot of beam area miss. could slow down boat speed to 2 to 3 mph.

Keep going over the same target and adjusting your unit till you are happy.

Scan Scan and Rescan. Good luck and enjoy!!!  Roddy
