ALL SI Models - iPilot Link Dongle
« on: February 04, 2014, 01:28:17 PM »
Model:
ALL SI Models
Suggested Upgrade:
iPilot Link Dongle
Explanation:
There is a need to reduce the price on the link system to increase sales volume of both iPilot Minn Kota trolling motors and Humminbird systems. System prices are quickly getting out of the range of the vast majority of anglers and making it only affordable to Pro anglers and wealthy boaters. The solution is to make a small inexpensive dongle that connects to the ACCY-COM connection that will work like/and is an actual remote control. The remote control will be associated to the trolling motor and the follow the contour guidance control is the SONAR/fishfinder control head/AS GPS HS when the follow the contour feature is turned off in the SONAR/fishfinder. Software adjustment have to be made to accommodate the configuration changes. This is not the optimum set-up, which would be the more costly iPilot Link, but it will work and add value while producing sales from a broader range of anglers.

Basically its a remote control that plugs into the sonar unit and controls your trolling motor. The only issue is the trolling motor is not sending back the thrust angle and the unit. The thrust angle tells the sonar unit which way it is pointed at that moment so it can correct for drift. This can be fixed by good programming techniques. The system uses the last supposed angle to correct for drift and acts on real-time course movement to quickly surmise the actual effective angle. If it doesn't know the angle at all it can activate the trolling motor and collect the movement change using the gps and quickly correct itself to follow the proper course.

Still no likes????

I like the idea.....just don't understand it completely. ;D

I have a terrova with I-pilot and it would be nice if there was a solution where I didn't have to remove the existing i-pilot and replace it with the link.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**
