Title: Humminbird Helix 5si G1 - Clarity Issues
Post by: coy on January 13, 2020, 10:13:38 AM
Hey guys.  I have a Helix 5SI G1 unit.  I know its a basic unit, but I am having issues where I cannot get a clear picture after turning my boat.  Let me be clear, I understand the image that the unit will pick up when making a sharp turn.  This is not that.  Please see the image.

My scenario... I can cruise along and get a clear image.  Once I mark some fish, I go past the mark and turn around to go back and mark the fish again.  I get the typical noise on the unit that comes with turning around, but its after that clears.  I get this image that you see on the right side of my image.  It keeps reading that way even past the mark where I originally marked the fish.

Once I stop, let everything settle for a few minutes, and take off, I seem to get a clear image again.  IF I mark fish and turn around to remark, the whole process starts over.  Any ideas?  its almost useless with this going on.  Thanks!

I cannot download the pdf on my iPhone but  ...

My suspicion is you’re seeing aerated water from your own previous boat track  ...
