ALL SI Models - Additional Icons for mapping units
« on: September 22, 2009, 08:27:57 PM »
Model:
ALL SI Models
Suggested Upgrade:
Additional Icons for mapping units
Explanation:
I would like to see additional Icons added to the Mapping functionality. This way everything does not need to be a waypoint, If I need to mark Navigation hazards or other areas of interest that don't really need a waypoint.
Added in Software Version:

swm,

Welcome to the forum.

There is already a good compliment of 30 icons you can chose from on the unit and in Humminbird PC.  The unit will default the icon to the blue dot when you create a waypoint.  But you can change it by editing the waypoint from the menus.

I know many other units do have more icons available.  Maybe different colors like red, yellow, green to mark different types of structure. Boxes, Squares, Triangles, etc.

In the (hopefully “near”) future there should be a software release that will allow for additional waypoint icons in the unit (HumminbirdPC software will follow).  It will also allow you to select what the default icon will be when you hit the Mark button or even to be able to select which waypoint icon to use for each waypoint when created.  Not sure when the due date for this software update will be but we will announce it here and on other web sites.

Thanks for the information I was not aware of the current functionality, I moved to a 997 from Lawrance they have quite a extensive list of additional icon that can be added. I look forward to the next software upgrade and the enhanced functionality.

Hi all,
I think it would be nice to have Icons for different structure and wrecks, since a lot of guys use their units for structure and wreck searches.
I.e. rock(s), tree(s), brush, weed, etc for structure and sail boat, motor boat, rowing boat, kayak, canoe car etc. for wrecks.
