Will this tranducer placement work?
« on: December 31, 2011, 09:18:09 PM »
I am new here and have been reading so much but still not sure if this is the right place to put the transducer. I've attached a photo and was wondering if I place it where my old transducer is if it would be the best place. ila_rendered" alt="" class="bbc_img" />

Your transducer appears to be clear on both sides, the only question is when the Outboard is down does it get in the way of the transducer.  It looks like you will be ok, I would not change anything until it is tested on the water.

kilrbil,
Hard to say from just the one photo but I agree with George in that it does look like it might work when mounted there.  Can you post some additional pictures of the overall transom area of your boat?  They need to be from a lower height so that we can see things at the same level that the transducer will be at.  Are you trying to use the one transducer for both Si sonar and high-speed 2D sonar readings?

Kilr...That looks like a Lowrance transducer.  (200 skimmer)  For that transducer it should have worked fine.
Depending on the HB transducer you might plan on having the ducer a bit higher.
Also you might check some of the pictures in the gallery as the HDSI is a bit sensitive to placement.
