Daniel,

Well part of your wish is going to come true!  The new 700 series SI units coming out in 2011 will have 800khz and Ethernet connection.

Now, I know that doesn't do you much good since the older units will not be able to be ugraded to 800khz.  But at least it will be offered now in the lower priced units! ;D

The ability to make the 800kHz frequency is limited in the smaller units like the 797 and 798 by the lack of components (that’s how it is done on the larger units.  So a software update should not be possible to make this work – unless they have discovered something new.  Actually this was all news to me as I haven’t seen anything “official” released yet – but than I’ve been in a ‘work hole; for the past two months!

I understand that Greg.
I' m system operator and programmer.
I can imaging that  inside my unit there isn't something usefull to accomplish that goal.

But I'm sure , that somebody could make up something to solve this thing.

For example , to add something between an HD ducer and the unit connector.

I do not know. It could be cool.

Thanks for your post.

I suppose that someone may be able to rig up a ‘black box’ that would do be able to convert from 455kHz to 800kHz and back again Daniele.  I don’t know what loss in sonar resolution and power there will be though.  Even than you would still have to buy a new HDSi transducer to make it work, but I guess that it is possible.
