Helix iPilot routes or tracks with HumminbirdPC
« on: April 24, 2018, 05:10:32 AM »
I am looking forward to get an Helix G2 with iPilot-Link functionality.
Is it possible to import a kmz/usr/gpx track or route into the HumminbirdPC software and then transfer the track/route to the Helix sonar using this track/route as an iTrack or route with iPilot-Link?

I have "ready to use" routes for our frankonian lakes in Global Mapper and I would like to use these as iTracks or routes to control my Minn Kota.

I know that the iPilot remote control is able to "learn" iTracks and that the Helix is able to store driven tracks, which then can be used to control my Minn Kota. But my GM routes are much more precise.

First to use the I-pilot Link with a Helix unit you need a "G2N" version of the Helix.

The track following on the Minn Kota is a separate function and are separate from the HB  track following.

The Minn Kota will follow Minn Kota recorded tracks and are  stored in the Minn Kota trolling motor head, but not HB tracks.

The HB follow tracks are a function that are part of the Lake Master mapping SD card.  So you will need some type of Lake Master SD card (map or Zero Line) in you Helix head unit to work in conjunction with your imported tracks.

Once you have all the correct pieces, it is simpler than it sounds.  :D

Thanks for that quick responce.

The synch of iTracks is clear so far.
But there is also the possibility mentioned  in the manuals that iPilot can follow a route.
And a route normaly is defined by the sonar.
What I thought is that it should be possible to create a route in the sonar and that tell iPilot that it should follow it.

Yes, you can create a track in the HB head unit either from a recorded track or one imported through Auto Chart PC software or built through a series of way points.

The Minn Kota I-link trolling motor will follow the track but the track is parsed out to the trolling motor one piece at a time. The trolling motor is the slave to the HB head unit.

I hope this add to your understanding of how each piece works.  :)
