ALL SI Models - GPS offset
« on: April 01, 2018, 04:11:02 PM »
Model:
ALL SI Models
Suggested Upgrade:
GPS offset
Explanation:
It would be nice to have an option to set the GPS distance between the head unit and the transducer to get more accurate positioning. This function would only be engaged while moving (such as while using AutoChart Live for ex) so as not to introduce inaccuracies.

For example, if my console is 12' from my transducer I could go in and manually set the offset to 12' to the south while moving north. From that point on when I'm moving north any mapping points or way points would show up 12' to the south of the head unit where the transducer is for greater accuracy. If I was moving east then any mapping points or way points would show up 12' to the west, etc.

This could be an automatic feature that would only happen while moving in any given direction such as under power or drifting with the wind so that the unit wouldn't get confused on which direction it is facing and therefore accidentally create inaccuracies. Or this could simply be a purely manual only function that you have to turn on and off each time you want to use it.
