Navionics Rebate Warning
« on: October 15, 2009, 07:20:21 PM »
Please be aware that Navionics has a very strict interpretation for getting the $50 rebate on the Hotmaps 2009 chips.  After a couple of emails with Navionics and providing a copy of my online receipt from Cabela's, they said it would not be honored.  My receipt clearly showed the full MSRP price.  The total at the bottom, including tax. The total was $20 higher than what was shown charged to my credit card.  The $20 difference was because Cabela's had provided a cash coupon for $20 off any purchase of $150 or more.  Navionics was told that is what it was.  Their rebate does state that store coupons and rewards, etc will be excluded.  I ended up canceling my order.  I just want to let others know before they purchase and it is too late.

Thanks for advice Fuzzy!
Although I won't buy any Navionics Maps (no decent map for my Lake), it's good to know about such things.

FuzzyGrub.

Frankly I think that Navionics sucks, unfortunately they are the only thing available for HB's SI units.  But with the change allowing LakeMAster mapping programs to be used it is a matter of time before others can be used.  I find Navionics to be arrogant, it is their way or the highway.  Eventually many of us will get fed up and put enough pressure on HB to change or atleast allow an assortment mapping programs to be used.  I will think long and hard before I purchase anything from them in the future.  Maybe with Lowrance's SI it will put enough pressure on HB to allow more vendor mapping programs to be used.

All of us should be writing comments to HB to let them know how we feel.

George,

I think HB is already moving in the right direction.  I don't think they want to get into the map business, but have to maintain relationships with those that do.  Now, what I really want, is to be able to collect data and make my own maps, and then be able to reload them.  Having collective data on the net that all can share.

As far as Navionics, I think Cabela's service reps thought I was nuts, until I provided the email chain.

I have like $70  worth of points on my Cabelas card and was going to use it for the purchase of a chip for my new Hotmaps for my  997.   I would have been really pissed had I found this out the hard way as you did.  Thanks for the heads -up. The  bad part is I will have to pay full price to get the $50 rebate.  And still not using up my points money.   I guess it will even out in the end .
