Title: Transducer compatability with 898 and Helix 9 and Helix 10
Post by: Stumpy on November 25, 2015, 04:23:38 AM
Hi Guys, I currently have a 898 HD unit on my boat and was entertaining the thought of possibly upgrading to one of the new Helix 9 or 10's when they eventually arrive in Oz. As it's quiet a task removing and fitting a transducer on my rig, I was wondering if I would be able to use the 898 T/D with the new Helix units and also will  the power head be the same as the 898 as well? I'm thinking the Helix T/D will be more high tec, but its worth asking. Stumpy

The Helix 9 comes with a compact transducer in the box, but will work fine with the HDSI transducer.....just change the menu selection..... You can do a small upgrade fee and get the HDSI as long as you do it before disturbing its packaging.
The Helix 10 comes with the HDSI transducer standard......The HDSI is what your 898 uses.

It is normally recommended to replace the transducer when installing a new unit because the transducer is subject some degradation with hours used ....... But you could just keep the new one as a spare.
