Does the round antenna on the 898c need to face straight up?

Thanks....Bill

The flatter the better.  Also with as little obstruction to the sky as possible.
Another hint is to try and have the transducer and the antenna (GPS) as close in proximity to each other. So that a good position relative to the target is given.
For sonar and gps this can be important.
If it is just for navigation then it does not matter if the ducer and the gps are close to each other.
