I would LOVE to see a new manual written that takes into consideration many of the FAQ that posted on line (could it be possible that many of these questions are because of a poorly written manual). More importantly, I would strongly suggest that it be written NOT by a tech person for people that are technically oriented but for the weekend fisher person (that is where most of new sales will come from). Include a person that is an an English major that knows how to communicate in a clear manner along with the tech people.
Come of people let your voices be heard, we can do it!!!
PS And make sure that people can be able to copy and paste the document so we can make our own notes for easy reference!!!!!!
I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?

A bigger, more comprehensive manual may
jack up the prices of the units. ???

Some electronics today, are sold without manuals, and
only come with PDF files on cd-roms, or manuals you
can download from the Web.

The features change so fast on the units that I'm
sure it could get pretty expensive (for Humminbird),
to keep printing off newer versions of manuals.

There's a host of fishing forums and
youtube videos with information on how
to use the units.

It just takes a little research.
The units have built in simulators also.

Maybe even have a manual that could be loaded and read from one of the card slots in a split screen mode.  It could even come along or be updated with the software updates.
It could be expensive to keep updating printed manuals, but it doesn't seem to be too much to ask to have an accurate electronic manual and someone who is responsible for keeping it accurate.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**
