Some of the brackets have a little block to fit in.  Some depend on the screws and the correct tightness. Some folks make a piece to fit in the bracket.
Whatever you do. remember the main purpose of the kick up is to protet the transducer.
Your manual should show the installation and adjustment. However,  Hb did not ship all units with manuals. So you can do one of two things.  Ask HB for a manual, usually a disk.  or ask the forum to send you a manual electronically.  I think this is a PDF file type.
If you send me your email to my email, I think I have the pdf file and can send to you..

OOOOPPPSS..My mistake, I dont think the 898 has the transducer installation in it.  The 1197 manual has a HDSI install instruction..
And somewhere on the forum are some past posts of install and adjusting.  Usually found by the search box at the top of the main menu..
Here is one that get you started..

crappiedave,
Is this for the HDSi transducer for your 898c Si unit?
Do you have the transducer installation instructions?
If you do have the installation instructions:
 - Inspect the transducer installation and adjust if necessary to reduce the amount of water force against the transducer.  If the transducer is installed according to the instructions try the following:
 - Remove the transducer and pivot arm (this is the black plastic piece) from the metal mounting bracket.
 - Bend the side ‘ears’ of the mounting bracket inwards.  This will make it necessary to have more pressure against the transducer for it to kick upwards.
 - Reassemble the transducer and test, repeat if necessary.

The Transducer Installation Guide is separate from the Operations Manual on many of our units.
