Title: That was too easy
Post by: netman on January 16, 2010, 09:47:41 AM
Got my 4gb SD card and writer/reader last night. Came home followed the instructions on Humminbirds website and within a few minutes my 997 is updated and ready for the water. Too simple!  I kept the card in the unit for snap shots and video. The next learnin obstacle will be getting the pics from the unit to the this site. Thanks for alls help.

One thing to remember. If you should attempt another future update with out removing the last update and you do not pay attention to your screen you could be wasting time. I know because I had two updates on the same chip and it performed the latest update then after restart it attempted to install the older update. It took me a few minutes to figure that one out.

Right Soretoe!

been there, done that...

Since then, I save or delete every data on the SD card, copy the update to it and perform the update of the unit. I once had an update on one of my SD cards and every time I had it in the unit the unit asked to replace the software. No big deal, but kinda nerving.
